The short version

Who we are

OpenSim Informatikai Kft. (“OpenSim Ltd.”), registered seat: 1032 Budapest, Szőlő köz 11. 1. em. 3., Hungary, develops OMNeT++. This policy covers the OMNeT++ software and the www.omnetpp.org website. For anything in this policy, contact us at [email protected]. We are the data controller for the processing described here.

The software

The OMNeT++ software does not collect, store, or transmit personal data. It contains no telemetry, no usage tracking, and no account system. Simulation models and results stay on your computer.

The website

omnetpp.org is a static website hosted on GitHub Pages and delivered through the Cloudflare content delivery network. Like every web service, these providers process your IP address and technical request data to deliver the pages and to protect against abuse. We do not receive or store these logs. See the GitHub privacy statement and the Cloudflare privacy policy.

Downloads, the source code repository, the issue tracker, and discussions are hosted on GitHub. If you interact there, GitHub’s terms and privacy statement apply. Downloading OMNeT++ requires no registration.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the site and which pages they read. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes your IP address and browser information. Google retains this analytics data for 2 months by default, 14 months at most. We see only aggregated statistics, never individual visitors.

You can decline analytics cookies in the cookie banner, or block them with your browser or an extension such as the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. The site sets no other cookies of its own and works fully without them.

Email and support

If you write to us (support, sales, or general questions), we keep the correspondence for as long as we need it to help you and to follow up on related questions, and at most 4 years after the last exchange, after which we delete it. We use your address only to reply.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask us for access to your personal data, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, or a copy of the data you gave us, and you can object to processing. Write to [email protected] and we will respond within one month. You can also complain to a supervisory authority; in Hungary this is the National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH, naih.hu).

Changes

When we change this policy, we update the date at the top. Substantive changes are announced on the website.
